Jon is a chartered planner with twenty years’ experience in urban design and planning consultancy. He works across all spatial scales, bringing to his work a thorough understanding of the planning process with sensitivity to the issues of design and masterplanning. Jon is a Design Council CABE Built Environment Expert (BEE), member of the international Placemaking Leadership Council founded by the PPS Group, and member of various Design Review Panels.

Jon works on strategic planning and masterplanning projects, neighbourhood planning, policy research and formulation. He has an excellent understanding of the current localism agenda and the opportunities this presents. Studies worked on have addressed issues such as regeneration, land supply, housing delivery, urban capacity and expansion. He has led on the production of AAPs, SPDs and technical policy documents to support and guide the evolution of the Local Plan process, as well as numerous neighbourhood plans. He has also contributed towards a series of design guidance, best practice and national research documents.

He is a regular speaker and commentator in the professional press on neighbourhood planning matters and recently contributed to the Design Companion for Planning and Placemaking published by Urban Design London.

Jon is a keen cyclist and football fan, and enjoys drawing.
