Amesbury, Wiltshire
Amesbury is located in Wiltshire, approximately 8 miles north of Salisbury. The Town holds historical significance as one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in Britain. Notably, it is home to the world-famous Stonehenge, an ancient stone circle and UNESCO World Heritage Site, which draws over 1 million visitors each year.
Amesbury Town Council is currently in the initial stages of preparing its first Neighbourhood Plan. On behalf of the Town Council, we are analysing the town and parish to help develop priorities for the Neighbourhood Plan, shaping the vision, objectives, and policies in the Plan.
Paddock Wood, Kent
The Paddock Wood Neighbourhood Plan has been successful at referendum. Work began on the Plan as early as 2014 but was subject to delay and revision as a new Local Plan began to emerge and which sought to allocate significant areas of land around the town for major new housing growth.
Troy Planning and Design was appointed during the Covid lockdown to help re-launch work on the Plan, shaping policies in this to help grab and steer the benefits of future growth for the town as a whole and responding to the challenges of climate change and the ‘post-pandemic’ environment. The Neighbourhood Plan links policies and projects back to the indicators outlined in the ‘Quality of Life Framework’ to show how it is guiding change and development such that it creates a better place for all to live in.
Despite the challenges faced in terms of responding to the ambitions outlined in the Local Plan, the Neighbourhood Plan has now progressed ahead of this and presents the most up-to-date policy position for the town.
Carnforth, Lancashire
The Carnforth Neighbourhood Plan was successful at referendum in January with an 87% vote in favour of the Plan being ‘made’.
We have provided support to the Town Council on the production of the Neighbourhood Plan over the last three years. This has included policy drafting, consultation events and assessment of local heritage to support a policy around non-designated heritage assets.
The Plan seeks to ensure that the best qualities of the built environment and historic qualities of the town are reflected in future developments and that this helps support active and healthy communities. The Plan also hopes to capture the benefits of inward investment and increased awareness of the sustainability agenda that will come with the opening of the nearby Eden of the North project.
Redbourn, Hertfordshire
The Redbourn Neighbourhood Plan was successful at referendum with an 89% vote in favour of the Plan being made.
A draft Plan was originally prepared in 2019 but work on this paused as the district Local Plan, which had been subject to review at the same time, was withdrawn from Examination, requiring the approach in the Neighbourhood Plan to be reconsidered. Troy Planning + Design was appointed to refresh the Neighbourhood Plan and focus of policies within it, creating principles and criteria to help shape the design and location of any future development, to strengthen the role of the town centre and local heritage assets. It also includes a series of Local Green Space designations.
With a new Local Plan still some way from adoption, the Neighbourhood Plan is filling the policy vacuum, presenting local specific policies that respond to challenges and opportunities in Redbourn.
