I am a chartered planner with more than twenty years’ experience in urban design and planning consultancy. I work across all spatial scales, combining a thorough understanding of the planning process with sensitivity to the issues of design and masterplanning. I am a member of various Design Review Panels, including the Planning and Architecture Panel run by Urban Design London as well as being a member of the international Placemaking Leadership Council founded by the PPS Group.
I work on strategic planning and masterplanning projects, neighbourhood planning, policy research and formulation, and have an excellent understanding of the current localism agenda and the opportunities this presents. Studies worked on have addressed issues such as regeneration, land supply, housing delivery, urban capacity and expansion. I have led on the production of AAPs, SPDs and technical policy documents to support and guide the evolution of the Local Plan process, as well as numerous neighbourhood plans. I have also contributed towards a series of design guidance, best practice and national research documents.
More recently, I have been working on projects that apply the concept of the ten-minute town and complete neighbourhood approach to inform growth and infrastructure decisions. This includes contributions to forthcoming guidance from the TCPA on how local authorities might implement these ideas.
I regularly speak and comment in the professional press on neighbourhood planning matters and recently contributed to the Design Companion for Planning and Placemaking published by Urban Design London.
I am a keen cyclist and football fan, and enjoy drawing.
