I graduated from the University of Amsterdam in 2021 with an MSc in Urban and Regional Planning, specialising in active travel, public space and inclusivity. I consider younger people to be the most overlooked demographic in planning. My thesis explored the relationship between active travel and participation in play streets for children and found that play streets created an ideal scenario for children to practise active travel and take ownership of the street.
Before moving to Amsterdam, I studied Geography at the University of Salford. Living and commuting by bike I experienced the fear and exclusivity created by the urban environment in Manchester. This drove me to study urban planning, and campaign for safer streets as a volunteer with WalkRide Greater Manchester and Sustrans. These experiences have helped me understand the role of inclusivity, collaboration and empowerment. These are the values that are important to me and the values that I bring to my projects with Troy Planning + Design.
Since joining Troy Planning + Design in 2022, I have been working on the preparation of design codes, neighbourhood plans and community engagement workshops for a range of towns and communities.
In my free time I enjoy 5-a-side football, exploring architecture, caring for my plants and creating ravey 90s electronic music.
