Hadley Wood is unique in London: it is a free-standing settlement in the Green Belt typified by large dwellings and verdant character.
Troy Planning + Design has been helping the Forum to prepare a neighbourhood plan that seeks to reinforce the verdant character of the area, which is under threat from large scale extensions and proposals for new development. Policies and projects that seek to address an increasing risk of surface water flooding, exacerbated by the scale of extensions and paving over of front gardens have also been prepared.
Policies have been supported by a Character and Heritage Study, with graphical guidance presented in the neighbourhood plan that helps interpret and apply the policies. Alongside the policies a series of projects have also been identified, including public realm enhancements and improvements to community facilities, cross-referenced to a ‘neighbourhood CIL’ list.
